Jennifer Giroux

Jennifer Giroux is a Senior Researcher at the Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zurich where she works with the Risk and Resilience Research Group - performing research on societal resilience, cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection, and the role of information technology in emergency/crisis planning and response. In addition, Jennifer head’s the Targeting Energy Infrastructure (TEI) project, which examines the contemporary characteristics of violent non-state actors and their targeting behaviors as it relates to energy infrastructure. This project has involved the development of the Energy Infrastructure Attack Database (EIAD) to support research and analysis as well as fieldwork in the Niger Delta, Nigeria and Malaysia (Malacca Straits). Jennifer holds a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology and a Master's degree in International Policy with additional training in counter-terrorism studies, conflict resolution, mediation, and partnering. She has been a featured expert for various media outlets and speaker for international conferences and workshops held in countries such as Jordan, Nigeria, Singapore, UAE, US, and various European countries. Her experience includes working with the United Nations, the Center for Terrorism and Intelligence Studies (CETIS), and the Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS).
